Our Process

Our 3 Step Process

Step ONE: Protecting the Bathroom

At Bath Tub Man, we take extra care to protect your bathroom before the reglazing process begins. After the surface is cleaned and prepped, our technicians use drop cloths and masking materials to protect the surrounding walls, floors, fixtures, vanity, toilet, and other areas.

This step helps prevent overspray and keeps the rest of your bathroom clean during the refinishing process. Proper protection allows us to focus on creating a smooth, professional surface reglazing finish while respecting your home.

Step Two: Preparation

At Bath Tub Man, a quality bathtub reglazing job depends on proper preparation. Before the new finish is applied, our technicians carefully prepare the surface to help ensure strong bonding, a smooth appearance, and long-lasting results.

This step includes cleaning the tub thoroughly, removing surface buildup, addressing residue, and preparing the areas that need attention before refinishing begins. Dirt, oils, soap scum, mineral deposits, mildew, and old caulk can all affect how well the reglazing finish adheres, so proper prep is an important part of the process.

By taking the time to prepare the surface correctly, Bath Tub Man creates the best possible foundation for a clean, glossy, professional bathtub reglazing finish.

Step Three: Reglazing the Tub, Sink, or Tile

At Bath Tub Man, the final step is applying our proprietary bathtub reglazing finish. Our trained technicians carefully spray the surface with even distribution and close attention to detail, creating a smooth, clean, and professional-looking finish.

Our reglazing application typically dries in 2–4 hours and the tub can usually be used again in 24 hours. This process helps restore the look of your bathtub without the cost, mess, or downtime of a full replacement.

“The process was simple, fast, and so much easier than I expected. Bath Tub Man made getting my antique tub refinished completely stress-free, and the results are beautiful. I’m so glad I chose to refinish instead of replace.”

One of the biggest benefits of professional bathtub, sink, and tile reglazing is how quickly your bathroom can be refreshed without the mess and downtime of replacement.

With Bath Tub Man’s refinishing process, most reglazed surfaces are dry to the touch in approximately 2–4 hours.

That means your newly refinished bathtub, sink, or tile can begin setting up quickly, giving your bathroom a clean, glossy, revitalized look in a fraction of the time it would take to remove and replace the fixture.

Completion Time vs. Dry Time

It is important to understand the difference between how long the reglazing process takes and how long the new finish needs to properly dry before use.

In most cases, Bath Tub Man can complete the bathtub reglazing process in approximately 2–4 hours. This means the prep work, refinishing, and application of the new surface can usually be completed in just a few hours without the mess and disruption of replacing your tub.

However, once the reglazing is complete, the surface still needs time to dry and harden before it can be used. Bath Tub Man recommends waiting a full 24 hours before using the bathtub, sink, or tile surface.

This 24-hour dry time helps protect the new finish and allows it to properly set. During this time, it is important to avoid water, cleaning products, bath mats, soaps, shampoo bottles, or daily use. Allowing the surface to fully dry helps improve durability, protect the glossy appearance, and preserve the quality of the reglazed finish.

Why the 24 Hour Cure Time Matters

Reglazing creates a fresh, smooth, glossy coating over your existing tub, sink, or tile. Giving that coating time to cure is one of the most important steps in protecting your investment.

Waiting the full 24 hours helps:

  • Allow the finish to fully harden
  • Protect the new glossy surface
  • Reduce the risk of marks, dents, or surface impressions
  • Prevent water from interfering with the curing process
  • Help the coating bond properly
  • Improve long-term durability
  • Keep the surface looking smooth, clean, and bright

Using the surface too soon can affect the final finish. Water, soap, shampoo bottles, cleaning products, or standing moisture can interfere with the curing process before the coating has had time to fully set.

A Little Patience Goes a Long Way

We know it can be exciting to use your freshly reglazed bathtub, sink, or tile as soon as possible. But waiting 24 hours is a simple step that helps ensure the best possible result.

That short waiting period gives the new finish time to cure properly, helping your reglazed surface stay beautiful, glossy, and easier to maintain.
